The Sorry Saga of the Largomorphs
Last Friday was a black black day in the B household.
For it came to pass that our rabbits all succumbed to a terrible illness and had to be dispatched to the great rabbit warren in the sky.
When we returned from the road trip 2 weeks ago, the rabbits had a pinkish tinge around the rims of their eyes. As the days passed the pinkish tinge turned reddish and then swollenish. And their little noses and mouths were getting swollen too. One of the rabbits - Pixie, our first rabbit - hadn't been seen for a while... she had been lurking in the sleeping enclousure. However Miss H had become concerned, and decided to check it out. Poor Pixie was not in a good way.
So we researched the symptoms, and discovered they had been infected with a mosquito-borne virus.
Which wasn't malaria.
If I wasn't so terribly distraught, then I would probably be able to enjoy the irony.
But I am, so I can't.
Vale Pixie, Snowy, Wombat, Pooh, Piglet and Eeyore...
One could not have more sociable, quirky pets as you - enjoy gambolling in the meadows in the sky...
... and so ends the saga of the rabbits. For the time being at least.

Oh noo!
Condolences to yourself and all the Misses B. We had just such an affliction lay waste to our bunny/guinea pig population a couple of years back. We never quite narrowed down the cause but one morning we discovered the poor wee buggers seemed to have gone blind overnight, refused to drink and then died before even making their afternoon vet appointment. Awful.
Hope you all feel better soon.
oh hurrrrrahhhhsss!!!!!
hopefully the cat will 'aquire' you and your kin some new pets.
good to have you back. x
So sorry. I was recently told that our little Twitch who we have always thought was a boy is quite possibly a girl. If only we had known before we sent him/her to stay with 14 other rabbits (mostly related to him/her) for a week while we had a holiday. We could quite possibly be having more in our household soon.
Mizanthrop - mozzies. And then it spreads between them so very quickly.
It's HORRID.
And making me very reluctant to get more rabbits, although I love them, and think they are perfect pets.
Mex - I'm thinking huzzah is maybe not the most appropriate sentiment :) But it;s true - Inigo will probably be replacing them soon enough. Although there has been a noticeable absense of rabbity offerings lately... Funny that.
Leilani - oh dear me. You can always send spare ones my way!
i meant HURRAH as in yay! you posted again kind of hurrah.
god i am REALLY bad at this blogging thing arent i? no wonder no one can understand me
mex - ohhhhhhh.
That's fine then ;)
And it's nice to be back...
That's very Watership Down, AB.
(I cried when the big one died after the fight in that, you know...)
It was tragic Donnie.
And Art Ganrfunkel could have penned a suitably sombre song to reflect my distress - wandering around the house with a poor sick rabbit clutched to my chest, sobbing (me, not the rabbit)...
