Compare and Contrast

Am trying desperately hard to keep my eyes open... think I am going to lose the battle shortly...

This is what you get when you go to a gig on a school night. And when said gig is roughly 70km from your house. And when rocking gigsters don't finish their set until after 11pm. My goodness peoples! Some of us have to get home to bed because we're old and boring!

But in other news, Augie March rocked last night!

I have some questions, I have some observations, I'll just put them Out There shall I?....

  • When did people start videoing the whole damn concert on their phones? How much memory do they have on their phones anyway???? And there's no bopping, or even clapping, to be done when you're standing holding your phone at arm's length recording....
  • It is most excellent to have a MegaFanBoy with you, who will helpfully shout out to the audience that the particular song they are trying to clap to is actually in 3/4 time, "It's a waltz people!", and that they should just stop clapping really.
  • Cute little teenyboppers, new converts to the deliciously wordy church of Augie March... Singing their earnest little hearts out to each of the Moo! songs played. Then standing in baffled silence during songs from earlier albums. Hee! So cute!
  • The ability to breathe - a refreshing change from the last time I saw the March at Yallah. And the gigs I went to during my rocking (or, lets face it, just moderately less quiet) phase... The joy of being able to jump straight into bed without having to rid oneself of the stench of stale cigarette...
  • Ha! New band name! Sonny Downtown and the Rowdy Table... in which I shall play the triangle. Sonny Downtown being the bass-playing MegaFan Boy. Apparently triangle-playing is harder than it looks. Pfft.
  • Problematic reminiscing on trains... Is it at all possible that I could have pashed the brother of my dearest KT80 (heavily pregnant wife of SD) at the Sutherland Bop?* Because it was ascertained that we both attended the Boom Crash Opera gig at the Sutho Bop, way back in the mists of time....

Anyway, the rambling is a result of only 5 hours of sleep, instead of my required 9. And the fact that I'm still full from enjoying a Sunday of pure gluttony - yum cha with Chesty and Shrooms (and the BBQ Pork products were in plentiful supply... how I adore Marigold!) - and then tapas and sangria with Kate & Dunc.

And the constant refrain here at C&C: I really need some coffee...

* After much consideration, I've decided it's not possible - I never pashed boys from Oatley for goodness sakes! I have standards... I only pashed boys from Wollooware.

You're both right. It was a punters-sponsored event and we deliberately decided not to invite you.

Maybe I'm just secretly bitter at being left out of all those boozy lunches you two are always having. Or the fact that you have dinner plans next friday night and my invite seems to have been lost in the mail.

Or maybe MrL and Shrooms and MissB and I are allowed to do stuff without inviting every mutual friend or acquanitance we have.

    Seriously - the fuck?

    Wow Chesty. The fuck indeed.

That was a gentle rib at something actonb once posted on Mex or my blog about a yum cha where she said much the same thing
    - meant to be a joke and we took it as such.

See, I don't know. A friend tells me what they did on the weekend and it just doesn't occur to me to wonder why I wasn't invited.

And so, I find the fact that both of you left comments on that - and nothing else - kinda strange. 'Gentle rib' or not.

And you really don't have to explain why you go to lunch together. I don't actually care.

Wow. All I am left with is wow.

Sorry actonb for any unintentional offense I may have caused to you. And with that I'll remove myself from the topic!
