Gin O'Clock

Is there a certain, magical, age at which one becomes enamoured of all things juniper?

Is Gin not the Queen of Spirits?

Is it ever too early for a cheeky G&T?

Is even crappy crappola Malaysian Gin the perfect end to a busy day?

Does this make me officially old? I'm thinking that the resemblance to my late-middle-aged uncle and aunt is becoming uncomfortably striking... drinkies anyone?

Am I the only one getting Hogarthian vibes here?

Eeek?

REPEAT AFTER ME: GIN IS NOT AN OLD PERSON'S DRINK.

IT IS AWESOME AND THE LIQUOR OF THE GODS.

Yes.

If you haven't slept, then 10am gin perfectly acceptable (try pairing with eggs florentine).

Like the expats say, "We drink gin for the boredom, and tonic for the malaria".

When I was stuck in Bougainville with a large bottle of duty free Bombay Sapphire, I walked around for days looking for some tonic. No luck. Somehow Gin and Tang didn't taste quite so good.

Gin is second only to vodka in list of drinks it's okay to have at 10am.

Trust me, I'm an ex-lawyer. I know these things.

It is NEVER too early for a G&T. It's always 6pm somewhere...

AND my next door neighbour tells me gin for breakfast keeps polar bears out of the kitchen. Works for her.

I don't like gin either, but yes, the sun is over the yardarm somewhere in the world. I totally love meva's neighbour's brazen excuse. I may steal it. Substituting "vodka" for "gin", of course. Or Havana Club rum when I'm feeling dangerous.

LB - you see Sherry is foul, but I have been known to have a glass of masala which is basically the same thing. Only when making tiramisu thouhg, obvs.

TMATP - gin and tang??? Straight gin is definitely the go then!

leilani - why thanks :) your turn btw.

W - mmmm indeed.

Mel - well obvs vodka is fine at 10am as it's often accompnaied by OJ which is nothing if not a morning beverage.

mars - beer is blerghy. at any hour of the day.

Jen - I'm going to assume you're only drinking it to be polite. And your MiL is OLD anyways...

Meva - Ha! I shall be borrowing that excuse also.

Red - Is it the juniper? Is that why you're hating on the gin?
