We are selling some stuff for Mum & Dad on eBay - kitchen, doors, windows etc from the house in Berry. It's being demolished this month, with the new one to be built soonish. Some of the questions we're getting are unbelievable! Do people actually read the descriptions given? Do they actually read the answers to other questions...? Ay ay ay... And someone has now emailed asking if he can buy the roof trusses???? Apparently I'm not allowed to say 'No! You big Scab!' That's not the done thing...

Anyway, my BiL is one who can try my patience at times, but this question left against one of the items (1 of 3 French doors with Shutters if anyone's interested...) was worthy of my praise...

Hi, MrB, Are we bidding on all three doors or just the one, where can we pick them up, can I take the door out myself, if so do I have to use tools, do you have a trailer I can borrow attached to a car with fuel if possible and do you know were I can get lunch down there, Thanks afloat

We're thinking up a suitably witty reply...

But seriously, the amount of times we've been asked where the items are to be picked up, how many there are, dimensions etc, I'm left with the impression yet again, that People are just Plain Stupid.

"Hi afloat! "We" are not bidding on anything - "we" are selling. You, however, can bid one one (1) door only, as is clearly stated in the description, sorry. Because she is over 18, you can of course take her out yourself, but as she is rather frail and infirm, we must insist on a chaperone so we can be sure you dont hurt her. Whether you "use your tools" is something on you and her can and should agree on. We do indeed have a trailer you can borrow, that is permanantly hitched to a car with fuel. We do this for all complete strangers we sell things to on ebay. Unfortunately, you can't borrow the car: she is not 16 yet, so can't go out on her own. So I guess the trailer is off limits too.
Lunch is, like you, a no-brainer, as there are plenty of bakeries and overpriced coffee shops in town, selling to tourists like yourself, who can't bring a round of cut sandwiches. Good luck and happy bidding! MrB

Dear Afloat,

No. Now fuck off back to the asylum from whence you have escaped.

Love Mr B.
