Holy Guacamole! It's January already...
Hope y'all had a lovely Christmas and New Year etc etc. With all the requisite family stresses and tanty-throwing and crappy prezzies.
I've been on a self-imposed exile from blogging, due to MrB being the tidgiest bit jealous of the whole bloggy malarky. I have therefore been limiting my puter time to scanning the SMH website while drinking my morning coffee, just to make sure the world hasn't ended. Which it did for Saddam, which kinda caught me by surprise. But that's what not having any interaction with the outside world will do to you...
I am now quickly grabbing the opportunity to say G'day while MrB is sitting at A&E again... something to do with a fence paling, a hand saw, and the decision NOT to use a clamp. Silly silly man...
Christmas was, well, Christmas really. It happens every year... I get all tizzed and stressed for no reason, and kind of forget to enjoy myself. We all went down to Berry for the gathering. The kids had a good time though - Misses M and H finally learnt how to ride their bikes, and were given horse-riding lessons from my Mother. For this she will pay....
We came home on Boxing Day, some relationships having been a little strained, but everything will be fine, it always is... MrB and I got more work done in the yard because we know how to have fun, but we've mainly just done some much-needed chilling out - I know it's working when I seriously have NO idea what day it is!
NYE was quite funny... almost a deja vu moment really. We weren't doing anything, our friends RevJen and the ClergyWife weren't doing anything, so we decided to not do anything together... As you do... We had numerous plates of nibbles and numerous bottles of grogginess and all was good. Except that we had the twins carrying on, and they had Baby Audrey refusing to sleep in her brand new Portacot, and we were all kinda just a tiny bit totally exhausted, so we watched the fireworks on the TV at 9, then did our 'Happy New Year' thing and they went home, and we were in bed by 10pm. WE ARE SO OLD AND BORING.
The funny thing is, 11 years ago we did exactly the same thing. MrB and I had just got married, were living in a teeny one bedroom flat in South Cronulla, and these same two friends came over to celebrate NYE. We had nibbles, we drank wine and port and other good things, I do believe we even played some board games. It got to 10pm, and we all just looked at each other, all of us exhausted, so we did our countdown and toasting then we went to bed and they went home. We were 22. We were so so sad! I must point out that we were all (bar MrB) working in retail, and were worn out by Post-Xmas Sales... and that we actually got up bright and early the next morning, met up for bacon and egg rolls in Heathcote, then spent the day gallivanting around the Southern Highlands.
Unfortunately our sad oldness was utterly underscored today when I discovered that the ClergyWife's 60+ year old mother had been out partying at Garden Island last night, and didn't get to bed until 3am!
New Years Resolutions: I don't do them, never have. I am a resolve-less person at the best of times...
However, I am making a promise to myself that this year I will eat more fruit! I'm a fruit-nazi when it comes to the children - "Muuummmm, I'm hungry..." "Have a piece of fruit" etc, but I never seem to eat it myself. I will occasionally have an apple and think 'Hmmm, that apple was indeed quite delicious! I must remember to eat more of them!' And then don't. But I shall. It has been decided. 2007 is the year of Eating Fruit.
And blogging... Coz it's fun!

Hurrah for blogging. Did you get a sick little thrill at seeing 'january 2007 added to your archives, too?
Now ...
Mr B should get his own blog, and then there can be no jealousy. I've been nagging MrL to blog for months, for this very reason (and because he's clever, really).
MrB should also use clamps when using saws. It's just sensible.
And finally. I have never not made midnight on NYE. But it's usually a very very close call. I envy your boldness in retiring before the NY hour.
Oh dear actonb. A&E again?
Sounds like you had a fun NYE, bed time included! Happy New year!
I share your NYE apathy, AB. I cringe at The Countess and the fuss she used to make when we were kids - a whole bunch of friends around, and at midnight singing Auld Lang Syne and all that... some traditions are just meant to die, I guess.
Jealous? It's not because of me, is it?
I'm joking of course!
Anyway, all the best for the new year.
LaRue - you know you're grown-up when you can go to bed early...! The MrB blogging? I don't think so!
W - Lucky Bulli Hospital is only 5 minutes away! I hope we don't have any cause to visit it again in the near future...
Donnie - I'm like the little Engine that could - I want to be able to do the NYE thing, but midnight seems an awful long way away sometimes. And it's just awkward staying up and ushering your guests out the door at 12:05...
John - It's no you pet, he doesn't know our little secret. Yet. But seriously, it's weird. The Mrb jealousy, not the... Oh, you know what I mean.
