This is going to be a long one... sorry. (And it's not even particularly interesting...)
Firstly - Dad's 60th went well. Apparently. I was too busy being the hostess with the mostest to actually enjoy any of it that much, but that's how these things work isn't it? Dad had a great time. That's all that matters...
And I bought a new dress, which is equally important. Shall post photos once I've hunted some down.
I was exhausted on Sunday, and was perplexed by the fact that I kept falling asleep. I think that the fact that I'm now on holidays until 8 January has had a shocking impact on my psyche... I haven't had an extended period off work since the twins were born in July 04. And even then, I went back to work after 6 weeks, and I don't think looking after newborn twins really counts as a holiday. No matter what my sister and her over-inflated sense of entitlement may think...
Speaking of whom, my sister and her Husband spent the night at our place on Saturday, after the party, and MrB only just managed to not deck him. A couple of our friends came over in the evening, Mr Sonny Downtown and his good lady KT80, to chill out with us and eat leftover nibbles... My BiL managed to get Sonny so riled up with his ignorant and offensive opinions (on a whole range of subjects) that I was worried people were going to get physically hurt. My sister left the table and went inside to read the paper, not having said a word in defence of her husband, yet wearing an expression of intense pain and embarrassment.
I am wary to post actual details of the conversation, other than to say that it leaves me afraid, very afraid, at the direction that Howard is taking my beloved country. And that it is telling when a member of the Federal Police Force has no respect for judicial independence, habeas corpus, or the presumption of innocence. Or, it seems, a brain.
Sunday did end on a bright note - we managed to get to church as an entire family unit for the first time in ages... And the twins kept the back pew of early twenty-somethings amused with their spontaneous rendition of 'happy cake cake to you' as the Advent Candles were being lit. And their marching up and down the prayer rail with loud demands to 'Move!' whenever a stray leg or elbow impeded their progress...
Monday I had recovered sufficiently enough to tackle Christmas Shopping. With the twins. Yes - I am a masochist. We got most of it done, and even had a lovely lunch in town. It's kinda nice to spend time with ones husband once in a while...
Yesterday more Christmas shopping, this time without small companions... But with the mob at Miranda Fair. Argh! Everytime I go there I hate it just a little bit more. It is a Vortex. But we got to see Casino Royale, and it ROCKED! Craig had me within minutes. I second Killer Rabbits new obsession. He is indeed a magnificent Bond. In fact, I shall go and ponder his fine attributes some more... Do excuse me, as you were, etc etc.

I think if I shopped at Miranda Fair, I'd be scared of every shop having a cut out of Miranda Devine in it... see what that silly woman has done to our psyche?
I'm so pleased that you agree with my assessment of the magnificent Bond - I was very surprised at how fanciable he was. So you didn't wear the pretty bridesmaid dress?
Donnie - Miranda Fair doesn't actually exist anymore... It's been Westfield Miranda since the mid-80s, but everyone refuses to call it that. And it sucks, and I wouldn't be suprised if there were Miranda Devine cut-outs, because they're all stupid Liberal voters anyways. Oh. Except Miranda is held by Barry Collier who's Labour (State). So I just disproved my own argument. I'll shut up now.
KR - I decided the bridesmaid dress was just a little too much for a lunch. So I just had to buy myself a new one. I got a gorgeous black cotton wrap-around dress, and wound my hair into a side bun with a flower in it. Very spanish. And I wore my espadrille wedges.
Gah. Thought I posted here. Didn't. Stupid blogger.
Anyway - it was a crap comment. The outfit sounds stunning.
ladies, you know I love your blogs, but if I read about how great the new Bond is one more time I think I shall plotz, and plotz I shall.
