Interesting fact: of the group of 'concerned Liberal MPs' who have approached Ruddock over Hicks and the travesty of justice that is his continued imprisonment in Guantanamo Bay, 2 of them represent the entire Sutherland Shire. Yes, that bastion of conservative WASPy racism.

Bruce Baird, member for Cook, (who has just told Pauline Hanson to 'bring it on' and challenge him in the next election) and Danna Vale, member for Hughes.

Now Bruce Baird has been part of the wussy wet sooky Liberals, along with Petro Georgiou and others, who have campaigned to soften the hard stance on immigration issues, so this is no real surprise. But Danna is the twit who sent that 'Stay strong and brave' fax to Lawsy (or was it Jones? One of the two anyways). She also made the infamous 'we're aborting ourselves out of existence and the dreadful Muzzies will take over' speech in relation to the RU486 Bill. So I am quite gobsmacked that she would be prepared to take a stand on the Hicks issue. Take a stand that brings her in direct opposition to Howard and Ruddock. And it forces me to grudgingly reassess my opinion of her. And this is not something that I like to do. Coz she's a twit, as previously stated. And all her electioneering bumpf says that Danna Vale is 'One of Us'. I know this because my parents live in Hughes, I used to live in Hughes. I still work in Hughes. I was happy when Robert Tickner was our member, then I got kinda quiet about it.

So, anyway, go you good things! This rabid leftie salutes you! You make me proud of the Shire, which is not a very politically correct thing to be anymore.

And, in regards to the Baird/ Hanson thing. She's obviously decided that due to the Cronulla Riots, she'd be a shoo-in with all the nice racists of the Shire turning out in their thousands to vote for her.... Which would be why Baird got 58% of the primary vote in 2004, and the One Nation candidate got 2%. But why let actual research and knowing your electorate get in the way of a media story...

Hanson's a bint.

Vale is usually a bint - she of 'gallipoli theme park on the ?gippsland? peninsula' fame, and the rest - so I see your confusion.

Good on them though.

This time.

Its about time that politicians took a stance for what they believe to be right rather than toeing the party line. More power to those who have ethics and morals.

Mex - can I just pop into her office, seeing as it's on this very street? And then I can tell the nice sensible man with the Liberal pin in his lapel how wonderful it all is...? And maybe flirt inappropriately with him because I've seen him buying coffee and I think he will be beweildered. I do love to bewilder Young Liberals, don't you?

LaRue - I'd forgotten about the GallipoliLand... She is indeed a silly twitful bint. But she used to be a lawyer, which, quite frankly, bewilders me.

KR - Indeed! I think ethics and morals are definitely to be encouraged. Be brave and true...

I've met many young lawyers with no ability to discern their arse from their elbow, so it doesn't surprise me much.

What does continue to surprise me is how someone can be so daft as to say PUBLICLY that we're aborting ourselves out of existence. Danna, that's just wack and ps lady, Muslim is not an ethnicity.
