So you think you can....

I have never been into the whole Australian Idol/ Big Brothers/ Dancing with the Stars bullshit.

Actually, no - that's a lie. I was into Pop Idol, the first year that they did it in the UK - before American Idol, before Australian Idol. The first time that Simon Cowell gatecrashed his Harry HighPants way into popular culture. I loved Pop Idol. I even made MrB tape the shows that I missed while I was back here on holidays. Now that's pretty darn sad. I'm thinking it was the fact that Ant & Dec host it. And I love Ant and Dec. Adore them with their boy-next-door looks, and their cheeky Geordie accents. I prefer Dec, but you know, I wouldn't say 'No' to Ant either.

I was also into Big Brother in the UK. But this I'm also blaming this on my ridiculous loss of sanity whenever there's a Geordie accent involved... because the C4 voice-over man has the most meltingly gorgeous deep Newcastle accent... so he can waffle for hours about how the housemerts are drinking larger in the direry rum, and it just doesn't matter... I'm in heaven.

Ahem.
Anyway.

That was an convoluted introduction to the fact that I've decided I'm in for the long haul with 'So you think you can dance'.

And once everyone's picked themselves up off the floor, I'll explain why...

I know, I know, you're just not as flexible as once you were... I'm waiting for you...

It's Cat Deeley.

I think she's great. I always have. Ever since I watched her (and Ant and Dec) on the Saturday Morning show on ITV. She held her own against the boys, and I think she's hilarious.

And I love that she talks to these earnest young American 'artistes' and they seriously can't understand a word she's saying. That would be because she has a dodgy brummie accent. But she's so enthusiatic. And so sweet.

And Drama Queens can be so funny.

I shall be watching again tonight, and let you know if it's a keeper.

Update: Well I watched it again, and have decided to commit myself for a couple more weeks. I can't explain why I'm loving it. I refuse to justify myself any further.

*sigh* Ant and Dec always remind of the most brilliant scene in Love Actually (shuddup, I'm a girl and thus allowed to occasionally like romantic comedies). You know, the scene where the aging rockers is on Top of the Pops and answers a question with the brilliant opening line of "Well, Ant or Dec..."

I can never tell them apart. But they could talk for hours and I'd not complain...

Oh oh, Ant and Dec, how I love them. Even during Biker Grove.

I won't mention the fact that my father's familiy are all Geordie's and that my trip to England I loved Northern England so very very much. Or that I lost on the Melbourne Cup because of bloody 'Geordieland'.

Nope, won't mention it.

Well and good... but it doesn't answer the question of why they have a pom narrating an American show. 300 million Americans and they have to import her? i dunt understand, and to be honest, i don't really like her yelling at me.

That dancing show was so lame - but i loved some of the characters, ooh! and when that dude face planted and they kept replaying it, complete with thud. Brilliant!

It's got car-crash potential, but I won't be sticking wiht it one they get rid of the lame-arses.

I saw it for the first time last night. It was fun and entertaining. I makes me realise how silly I look at Body Jam - particularly when they are trying to make me do hip hop - as I am a Molly dancer and always will be. I haven't seen anyone do the Molly though, do you think that they will?

OMel - I only saw LA recently, and loved it. Ant&Dec were just the cherry on the top.

Georgia - No! Not a girl crush, just 'she's cool and would be a great mate' type of fixation...

Lucy - I'm so glad you didn't mention any of that... but C&C is a place where you can feel free to profess your love of all things Northern. The Geordies, the Scousers, the (eugh) Mancunians...

Mars - I don't know why she's on there. Maybe it was a joint deal whereby they had to have Nigel and Cat. Dunno. Just happy she's there.

LaRue - Pah! I make no comment on your addiction to various other (crappier) forms of reality TV. No comment at all.

KR - What the hell is a Molly?
