A Mexicola post
In praise of the Aussie burger:
- It's huge.
- It's yummy and also very delicious.
- It was just what I needed on a friday afternoon when I realised it was 2:30 and I hadn't eaten anything all day (except the Bakers Delight mince tart at 10am).
- The little greek lady at the Take-Away calls me 'darlink' and smiles a genuine smile. I do like a genuine smile when my body has started to eat itself.
- All the lettuce and tomato and beetroot makes me think it's actually a healthy eating alternative.
- The onions had burnty-crispy bits.
- It only cost $3.30. That's a bargain! I like bargains.

Man thats cheap, and it does look healthy as well!
Can you please clarify the distinction between yummy and delicious, AB?
That's indeed a bargain, well done MissB, but the beetroot is disturbing. Beetroot is evil, I tells ya!
That's what your burger looks like? Yum! My last burger was soggy, and I don't think the onions were real. It was foul. But Chesty, I'm with you. Beetroot is out.
Shroom - my burger actually had more lettuce, and was indeed very cheap.
DM - It was initially yummy, but then the fusion of BBQ sauce, meat, crispy onions etc gave way to a more satisfying deliciousness that made me a happy little chicken. I guess the difference is the depth of the enjoyment...
LaRue - Much as I adore you, sometimes I just have to question how I can be friends with someone who doesn't understand that beetroot is an intrinsic element of the aussie burger.
John S - see above re beetroot. And it wasn't soggy - it was a perfectly put-together piece of culinary perfection. Hence my need to blog about it.
Jannali does something right. Just saying.
Mmm, burger.
I can get behind the beetroot ( assimilation?) but I just cannot do egg on a burger. That is weird.
I love the whole beetroot on a burger thang. But then I sometimes feel like pineapple on a burger for its sweet juicy deliciousness - I understand that many people find this disturbing.
W - I can only do egg on a B&E roll. With BBQ sauce. Bacon has it's place on a burger, egg does not. mmmmm. B&E roll w/ bbq sauce.
KR - I can't do the pineapple on burgers. Or pizzas. Thanks to my father and his 'They don't grow pineapples in Italy' mantra.
But I do love a pineapple fritter with cinnamon sugar after my burger.
"fusion" - I thought you had to pay $40/plate for something incorporating this, and only then if it came with a "jus"...
OMG i just saw this! how could i miss this! WTF was i doing on Friday? its now Tuesday!
and WHAT exactly does it have to do with me???
huh???
Coz i thought you'd appreciate it. :)
