Gah!
My Dad's 60th birthday is in a month, and we're having a lovely luncheon down by the sea in North Wollongong, at The Lagoon Seafood Restaurant.
I'm having a dilemma.
What to wear...?
It's a week before Christmas, lunch-time thang, but in one of the better (if not the best) restaurant in Wollongong. And it's a relatively big bash - over 40 people for a sit down lunch.
What to fecking wear...?
I have a gorgeous dress, my bridesmaid dress which I wore 6 months ago, but am worried that I'll never wear it again. I could dress it down, cute flats, hair not 'up', no pancake make-up... but is it still too much...? (And also, less lumpiness - is a very unflattering shot)
Or should I do the Stepford Wife thing, all high heels, chinos and a lovely blouse...?
Coz now I'm getting worried and stressed and I hate that. I'm playing hostess for coffee and cake afterwards at our place.
Bugger bugger bugger.

Hmmmm ...
No to the chinos. Chinos are evil.
I'd have to see the dress on a less formal you to tell - it might be a bit much (coming form jeans and t's girl though ... that's a perfectly disregardable comment).
Best o'luck.
I think that you should wear the bridesmaid dress - with flats and maybe a small jacket/cardie you can dress it down nicely.
What pretty material!
Also it will make your dad feel all special that you have made the effort for his bday.
LaRue - You know I'd wear jeans if I could get away with it. That or a long swishy skirt and a singlet. Not doable unfortunately.
KR - tis a gorgeous dress. Made by Pilgrim (melb brand)It's a beautiful blue-grey satin, with a brown lace overlay. Which sounds gross but is lovely.
If I can get my sister to dress up, then I'm in the clear...
firstly - can i say, rrrrraaoaoaoaoowwwwwww for the second time today.
and then let me say that i am having a fashion crisis of my own at the moment. i have a cocktail party on the weekend.
who holds friggen cocktail parties???
The Lagoon Seafood Restaurant...
Marvellously original.
Is that between Ming Dynasty chinese and the Aladdin's Lamp kebab hut...
Wear the dress - you can dress it down with a cardigan or jacket. It looks fab!
Cool. I shall wear the dress. I just worry about being over-dressed, but I do 'dressing down' quite well - being a complete dag and all.
Fingers - it's called 'The Lagoon' because, wait for it... it's right next to the lagoon. Yes we do like to be obvious in regional Australia.
you're hot! wear the dress :)
i think you'll be fine in the dress. the place looks posh anyway!
hurrahs! x
Wow, you look great in that pic!
I'd say wear the dress but say no to flats!
shroom - how's about a teeny tiny kitten heel?
You look fab in that dress and should wear it unless you will feel really uncomfortable. I hate feeling overdressed and usually over-compensate the other way and end up moaning about not looking pretty. Humf.
But yes, kitten heels instead of flats.

I love that dress (and you are so cute)!!
I agree, a little cardi and a kitten heel would be a bit spiffy but not in a "wow, she's trying way too hard" way.
Aha!
The dress it is! And MrB is eternally grateful as this means that I only have to buy new shoes, not a whole entire outfit. So everyone's happy...
Thank you blogosphere... you've saved the day!
