The Joy of Lunch
OH MY GOSH!!!!
OH MY GOSH!!!!
(Overlook the insane prudery that that phrase demonstrates. I'm quite happy to OMG, but I needed the extra emphasis. Believe me)
I don't think I can adequately convey what feelings of joy this has elicited in me...
When the place was being refitted before Christmas, the signage on the window said that it would be open for lunch, but when it finally opened in February or whenever it was, the little 'Lunch Opening Times' label on the door had been covered over with a piece of grey gaffa tape.
Oh how that tape taunted me...
You see, Jannali has 2 chicken shops, 2 fish and chip shops, 1 dodgy Indian and 2 equally dodgy cafes (which is why I buy my coffee in Sutherland)... which means that lunching possibilities are sadly limited.
BUT NOT ANYMORE!!!!
Because I patronised 'Smileys Thai - Enjoy the Cooking of Happiness' today, and indeed, the Happiness is warm and delicious in my tummy. And therefore I am sharing the joy, the 'Happiness' with all, ahh the benevolence... Pad Thai and Yellow Curry does this to me.
However, in other, mood-crushing news, I have discovered that 'Rich Tea' biscuits, while being plain bar the occasional burst of curranty goodness and therefore ideal for munching with tea, leave a nasty chemical taste in my mouth. I blame Arnotts. It's what I do.

Yipee for a good thai lunch. You will have to have a Pad Thai extreme week where you eat nothing else but delicious pad thai every lunch to make up for it not being open before!
That is SUCH a good idea. And the curry and stir-fry were packed full of lovely fresh vegies too - snowpeas, broccoli (my vegie of choice), zucchini. ALL SO GOOD.
AM SO VERY EXCITED. Still.
Yeah? Just you wait till some of that "happiness" turns out to be undercooked, and see how you enjoy your lunch coming roaring out your butt at 600km/h around 9pm tonight. You'll wish you'd just cut yourself a vegemite sandwich.
but if youre enjoying the cooking of happiness, what if there is none left for me?
what if they cook all the happiness just so you can scoff it all 5 days a week in down town Jannali? where does that leave the rest of us and our share of the taste of cooked happiness??
coz i can tell you, soup in a can does NOT the taste of cooked happiness have.
Oh yum. That sounds most excellent!
Lunch is a very important thing to get excited about.
Ha Donnie - no unpleasantness was forthcoming! All is good. I can Pad Thai my little heart out...
Miss Mex - this is indeed a dilemma.
However, I'M NOT SHARING MY COOKED HAPPINESS. So there. Deal with it. You will have to find some warmed-over joyous somewhere else.
It is W, it sure is! I'm glad you share my appreciation of a good lunch!
Hmm..I think there are some questions here that basically affect national, nay international routine (it is a Thai restaurant after all...Sawasdeekah/krab etc)
1. If one is guilty of workaholic tendencies and self-neglect thus skipping lunch - does this equate to skipping "happiness"? I think yes.
2. It is possible "happiness" is more concentrated in the raw form, as opposed to "cooked"?
3. Actonb - your Thai place sounds very "Pursuit of Happyness"-esque
4. Why do Thai places always have the best names? My fav in Syd is "Thaied Up", which i guess is masochistic but imaginative nonetheless.
5. Why do they not debate these points in Question Time?
6. Why can I not be succint in this post? Dang.
chickenlittle - if you are who I think you are, then that wasn't just a dipping of toe into the swimming pool of Blogger-commenting, but a veritable dive bomb!
And, er yes, quite.
This place is decorated in yellows and lime-greens and is abundant with happy feelings!
And if they discussed it in question time, you can be sure Mr Howard would be accusing Peter Garrett thus: 'How dare you enter this place speaking hubris and humbug' or however I've managed to misquote Our Fearless Leader's remarks of yesterday.
Bastard. (Howard, not you, obvs)
And if I'm wrong about who your are (and I'm not often wrong), then I warmly welcome you!
Ms B,
You've been tagged......
of course you're not often wrong actonB - but i expected nothing less!
you know, if you say Our Fearless Leader in acronym form - and fast -you CAN make it sound like 'offle'...
confession: i love question time. it's kinda like political sports day. it's my equiv of trash TV of a different sort. lashings of apologies to all those Home and Away fans...
Gigglewick and other educated C&C bloggers of Highest Order- what does "tagged" mean? Am I being marked for scientific purposes?
CL - 'tagged' means GW has done a meme and in a virtual game of tip, has tagged me to do the same. Her meme is on '10 things that I hate about Other People' and is very very good, and I know you will agree whole-heartedly with everything on her list - go check it out!
