The One with the cars

When you play the 'When we win Lotto...' game, which car do you wish you could buy????

MrB always chooses an Audi A4. He is love with German engineering...

And speed. But that kinda goes without saying...

Me, after the obligatory 'People Mover', (probably a new VW Transporter TDI), I'd be quite happy with one of these:

A Ford Cortina Mk 2. My dream car.
My family had Cortina's in the UK, and here. I wrote one off on my very first driving lesson, and pranged another a few years later (what? The wheels went wobbly as I went around a corner...)
But still, I love 'em. Built like a tank, but a gorgeous drive.

I miss my Cortina...

MrB has one of these:

lurking in the garage. So why can't I have a Cortina? Hmmm? It's only fair!

I know this is a weird thing to comment, but the blue car really looks like it is floating. I think it is the shadow.

Also, I know that as a man I should have a better way of describing it, other than "blue car", but... meh.

Oh! It so does! It's like a SuperHQ... That rocks.
You can call it 'the blue car'. I call it 'the heap of junk in the garage', so you're much more polite.

Oh, come ON, AB!
THAT deserves a post all it's own.

Pretty please?

Oh come on, I quite enjoyed the way that was brushed under the carpet!

Also, have you ever seen the average Cortina? She probably wrote it off by clipping the edge of the pavement or something!

There's not much to tell. It was the classic 'brake/accelerator mix-up' that had me turning a corner and hurtling into the reserve across the road from our house.

I may or may not have freaked about encountering other cars on the road, having just been learning the basics very early on a sunday morning...

I also may or may not have let go of the steering wheel and waved my hands in the air squealing like a girl...

But I knocked down a few saplings on the way, before coming to rest against a sturdy gum.

And you take that back Chris! They're 'vintage' now you know!

Erm, don't be offended, but if you wrote off one Cortina and pranged another, it's a fairly safe bet that Cortinas don't miss you, ActonB! ;)

My mate had several green Cortinas and consequently, many adventures. Once, the bonnet flew open as we were doing 110km/h down the highway. That was fun. Then there was the time a pack of racing cyclists rode head-on into us (we were stationary). Then there was the time we got a "fat" (not flat) tyre. I've never seen anything like it. Ahh the old Cortina. Excellence in fungineering.

Most of the scariest moments of my life involved a particularly insane mate with a bad mullet and a Cortina.

That guy probablky deserves his own post too...

I'm making a stand here and saying that the only good Cortina is a Mark II. The Mark 3 was a shitty bogan-mobile.

Only the MkII has class...

The Mk I has funky headlights though - I'll give it that.

No word of a lie.
My first girlfriend knocked down a blind man during her driving test and killed the poor bastard's dog...

The Mk1 GT cortina is the finest of all cortina's.

Did she pass?

Everyone knows dogs just coming running out on the road in front of you all the time.

Is that blue car a Belmont or a Kingswood?

Kingswood?

Kingswood?????

Wash your mouth out young lady!

That's an HQ Premier...
Kingswood indeed!

(But yes, this is what I call it when I really want to piss off MrB!)
