Things... and more things.

What I don't want to talk about:
  • Miranda Devine's article in the SMH. Mex has already covered my sentiments. Almost to the letter.
  • John Howard's classic refusal to take anything Sir Nicholas Stern has to say about Global Warming seriously... "... history is littered with examples of over-reactions to perceived threats..." (paraphrase, can't be arsed hunting down the exact quote... my emphasis obvs). This from the man who was so gung-ho about the 'perceived threat' of Iraqi WMDs. Hmmm - I guess he has a point...
  • I also won't talk about the fact that this man, a suburban solicitor in his previous life has the cheek to lecture a world-renowned Economist on economics. Love it.
  • Hicks.
  • My sudden lack of appetite. It's weirding me out.

What I'm quite happy to talk about - at length of needs be...

  • The fact that my FiL was pushing me for my url the other night, and MrB really stupidly told him that he just needs to google something I've written about, then it should pop up in the search engine. STUPID STUPID STUPID MrB!!!!
  • The fact that I really don't want my FiL reading my blog - hence my non-offering of the url.
  • Same goes for my sister.
  • The fact that I already censor myself enough as it is, and it ISN'T FAIR. If I want to say that my In-laws give me the shits, then I should be able to without having them lurking and then getting the shits back.
  • And if I want to say my BiL is an ignorant so-and-so and my sister is getting more and more selfish as each day passes, then DAMN IT, I'm going to.
  • What I'm going to bake tomorrow, in readiness for Miss H's Pony Party.
  • My plans for MrB's Easter break - they're extensive... But, because I am so gracious and understanding, I'll allow him to finish his essay for Uni before I get him started on numerous projects...

Question: My daughter is 8. Someone reckons that there has to be fairy bread at the Pony Party. Is she just projecting her own nostalgia, or is it an actual Rule???

Um...what is fairy bread and what is a Pony Party? Should I know? I'm especially intrigued about the Pony Party as I am imagining a party for the ponies. With a glitterball and colourful drinks.

ha! Fairy bread is white bread with 100s & 1000s sprinkled liberally all over. Then cut into triangles. Obvs.
And the Pony Party is going to be at a local stables, and friend of ours is going to take 6 squealing tweenies on rides all afternoon.
But you accurately described one of Miss H's My Little Pony 'Beach Party' thing, which comes complete with 'rainbow slide' and 'cocktail stand'.

Fairy bread sounds quite yum and terribly good for you. Chesty is right, it's a must. Do adults get to have pony rides or just the children?

I've never been on a pony, or even a horse. I was deprived!

Never been on a pony??? Not even a donkey at Scarborough???? You were deprived indeed young lady!
You are hereby invited to Miss H's party too - ponies and fairy bread will be in abundance... And also Loot Bags and Cup Cakes.

Sounds fab, especially the fairy bread. I'm very very interested in the fairy bread.

And y'know, actonb, I have been on a donkey but it's not a pony, is it? It's a donkey! Having an incredibly slow ride on scabby old donkey owned by a gypsy is nothing like I what I would read about in the pony club books of my yoof.

I'm still deprived!

The Bloke should make you Fairy Bread immediately. Because it's not the thing you should have to make for yourself. It's party food. Same goes for marmite pinwheels...
And it's true that a donkey is no substitute for a proper pony... especially if it's being led by a gypsy. Although that image makes me very nostalgic for my Enid Blyton books...

Now back to serious matters....

KR - You can come if you want... I'm starting to think there are lots of people out there who were deprived of their rightful pony rides as Little Girls...
I'm thinking cupcakes will travel better. And horseshoes is a DAMN GOOD IDEA. Along with silver cachous obvs.

Mex - The girls have read Lemony Snicket, but I haven't. They watched the movie too and loved it. BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT....

You could make the silver cachous into the shape of a horseshoe! Genius is my middle name...

Fairy bread MUST be consumed at the party - it is the law.

I should know, I was a city solicitor, not a suburban lawyer with an inferiority complex like some short, old, bald prime ministers who shall not be named.

I said so. Didn't I say?

If you don't have fairy bread, it's not a real party. And poor Miss H will miss out.

I am glad your commenters are so intelligent.

And I am also drunk.

Sigh. Tomorrow I will be watching 1327 minutes of Monty Pythons Flying Circus. Oh, what fun I will have! How many hours is that? If I get bored, can I watch something else?

Well I guess you've ditched the self-censorship on the in-laws then, huh, AB? Well at least your BiL thinks so now he's read your blog...

Mel - I am glad that I made the fairy bread, as I am a very law-abiding citizen and to think I had broken The Law would have been too too much...

Mizanthrop - This is what people keep telling me - and that it has to be proper round 100s and 1000s, not crappy sprinkley things.

LaRue - some of my commenters are intelligent... Other are drunk.

W - what's confusing about fairy bread????? Tis the simplest of pleasures...

Donnie - Yep. BiL is on my side though. And is disapproving of blogs in general, because he is so SMART and IMPORTANT.
