Double Standards

Quite.

From the SMH letters page 04/09/07

I trust that the Federal Government is so alarmed at the illicit drug use of Andrew Johns that it will immediately intervene and enter his Newcastle home declaring it a drug and alcohol-free zone, ensure any computers therein have a use policy and filters, compulsorily acquire title to his property and lease it back to him for five years, quarantine a percentage of his income to ensure money is being spent on utilities, food and clothing for his family, entitle police to enter the premises at any time and offer free regular medical check-ups for his son.

Ben Fogarty Darwin (NT)

Yes, the letters pages are indeed a wonderful mine of inspiration!

Don't be silly, Ben.

If they did that for Joe-E, then they'd have to do it for Ben Cousins, half the Hawthorn squad, and probably 25% of all other football/soccer playing athletes.

And what would that do for our dillusional idea that Australia is a nation of clean living drug free sportsmen and women on the world stage? After all, only Chinese she-male swimmers and black Canadian runners take drugs, don't they?

Ben is onto something! I say drug tests for all middle class lawyers living in Sydney as well to ensure they are all clean of illicit substances. If they aren't see the Ben solution.

Ah, I think what you are missing is that lawyers (unlike Indigenous people, unless they happen to by lawyers, but not those pesky social justice types) are PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS, paying their TAXES and not LEACHING OFF SOCIETY.

Or something like that.

Is this Friday funnies, AB?

Cos I just wet myself when I read gigglewick's joke that "lawyers are productive citizens"...

Oath!

Bonza post, mate.

After all, we do live in the land of the 'fair go'. If it's good for one, it's good for all of us.

Oh. Sorry. I forgot. This is still Howard's Australia.

Ooops.

The double standards are glaring. It's sad most Australians can't see them.
