Richard Cullen of SurfControl, an internet filtering company, estimates the site may be costing Australian businesses $5 billion a year. "Our analysis shows that Facebook is the new, and costly, time-waster," he said.It ain't the US subprime mortgage industry's woes that are causing all this stock market volatility, oh no! It's us Facebook slackers!

.....ummmmm.....
Nope.
I got nothing.
My favourite thing about that article is that the first sentence is almost word for qord identical to the first line of a rather similar article in teh same paper 18 months ago which blamed similar levels of poor productivity on, yes, blogging at work.
In vaguely related news, my sister in law just sent me an email inviting me to be added as a friend on her facebook account. What with not being on facebook and all, how do I respoind to this?

How do they know? I bet they have been facecracking themselves
GW - see! It's me... and you.... and half the blogsphere. We are to blame! Except INC of course, who has sensibly resisted all siren-calls to cast himself upon the ruinous rocks of Facebook.
INC - You politely decline... Unless you want to share the blame for dragging the country into recession.
KR - Exactly! Hypocrites!
I think I spend close to an hour a day checking in to my facebook account. I prefer to think of it as networking, that way it's possible to say it's benefitting my employer at some point.
who cares anyway. unless they're going to take our internet access away, whats the worst that could happen?
shit. i hope they don't take our internet access away. what the hell would i do all day? look at the pressed metal ceiling i suppose!!!
smallfry.
Err, I think they meant me. I was singlehandedly costing Australia $5 billion. I'm happy to say that Facebook only gets checked twice a day now. Phew. It was starting to take over my life there for a while. Of course, I still obsessively check both my email accounts every 10 minutes, but that's not costing anyone anything. No.
