In a beautifully circular bout of time-wasting yesterday, I spent a few pleasant hours reading Buffy recaps on TWoP, then proceeded to watch said epsiodes on DVD when I got home. And my essential early night kinda turned into a 10:30 bed time. But hey! I was relaxed. And comfy. And eating fruit (Sara Lee apple strudel counts as fruit, yeah?)

Don't judge me...

And I didn't watch Supernatural, because I have a classic case of coulrophobia (fear of clowns) and the trailers had freaked me out enough. I may love me some Dean and Sam action on a Monday night, but not if there are clowns involved. Na-uh.

Anyways... moving right along, no need to analyse my myriad personal psychoses...

Buffy: While I own the entire 7 seasons on DVD (and all of Angel ... *sigh*) I have never actually watched all of Season 6. I think we kinda crossed over moving back from the UK, and that was one of the things that got lost in the wash. Season 6 is also quite difficult I think, what with the resurrection of Buffy, and the whole Spike thing, it all got just a tidge silly. And then sillier in Seven. Which sucked. And Willow... *frown* I adore Willow, but this season just made we want to slap her. Mean horible writers making her so petulant and bossy with no sunny smile...But, y'know, there is a soft spot in my heart for all the Scoobs, so I'm enduring the silliness.

And I'd never seen 'Once more, with feeling' until last night.

I know.

That is indeed a failing in a girl who calls herself a Buffy fan.

But it's all rectified now. It was great. I loved it. It was laugh-out-loud hilarious. And I'm positive Joss is the weird be-antlered demon in the first scene. Something reminded me of the cousin who does the Dance of Joy.

So, in short - slight tiredness, with an inexplicable spring in my step today. I can cope with that.

'Once more, with feeling' was indeed the highlight of season 6, I thought. Then again - I missed most of 5, parts of 6 and I think all of 7. Which I'm not too sad about. I would have liked it better if Evil Willow had been more 'Bored Now' Evil Willow. Which was at least cute.

I actually liked season 6 - certainly much more than season 5. I thought that the Buffy/Spike destructive relationship added a nice darker element to the show.

I liked season 7 aside from those stupid buffets who possessed the worst English accents I have ever heard and did so much whining that it almost spoiled the season for me.

I watched Supernatural last night - I don't normally because even though it is an OK show I just think it tries too hard. Kind of like Jericho. Don't worry AB the clowns weren't scary, just rather lame. Also every time the smallest bit of suspense built up they cut to an interminable ad break. I am almost about to swear off television for good if they don't stop putting ads on every minute.

LaRue - I don't mind Evil Willow. I do however mind 'Kinda Evil and really whiney yet pompous Willow'.

KR - I have yet to delve into the rest of Six. But Seventh was suckful. Until the end, then it rocked. I just didn't like the mini-me's with a massive sense of entitlement.
And the ads on Ch 10 at the moment! I'm going to have to tape SYTYCD because I can't bear the ads anymore...

I can't stand those channel 10 ads they dress up as little docos on their shows. Argh! Irritating as hell.

Season 6 was the only one of 5-7 I saw a fair bit of, and I did like it. Not probably as much as early Buffy, though.

Oooo look at us AB and Chesty - we are such Buffy nerds! And as fully fledged members of Buffynerdom I must recommend Veronica Mars. Have you seen it?

LaRue - I agree, in fact I think the entire world agrees, that early Buffy was best.

KR - I consider it a badge of honour! And I haven't tried Veronica Mars. Is it on late? That's the only excuse I can use.

And, can I just say, I feel like a Vestal Virgin who has been shut up alive and left to moulder, having messed about and betrayed my Vestal Oath. I'm boiling in this here stuffy windowless office with no aircon. I'm melting.... melting.....

Season 7 was indeed far worse than season 6. And I can prove it:

I'm... cookie dough

The worst bloody analogy/soliloquy in the entire Buffyverse. That little speech was even worse than the episode Beer Bad. Yes, it was that bad.

Season 6 was a bit like season 4 - necessary to develop characters, but possessing some of the all time worst individual episodes. And then, like a rare gem, it had some beauties like Once More With Feeling.

Oh, and how annoying was Dawn in season 6? Whiny faced brat...

Dawn was always annoying. Was there a time when she didn't whine? I watched Beer Bad again the other day and aside from the lame underage drinking message it wasn't as bad as I remembered.

My favourite epsiode of all time is Hush.

Veronica Mars I purchased on DVD because it is one of those shows that they put on late, cancel and move around. If it doesn't have crime scenes in it tv programmers just don't care!

What happened to Weeds? That was good but also disappeared. Oh well another for the DVD collection.

I tried to get into VM but channel 10 just kept shifting it and Friday nights suck for tv viewing.

Is Hush the Gentlemen one? That rocked, bigtime, even if it wasn't. Probably my favourite.

And it may say something that the last season episode I watched was Dawn's premiere ...

I agree that Dawn is always whiney. Whiney whiney Key. Stupid Dawn.

Hush is one of my faves. I'm trying to think what my least fave is, but seeing as I watched 4 eps last night, all I've got in my head is shockingly unconvincing sex scenes between Spike & Buffy (or Spuffy as they refer to it on TWoP) I get the subtext, but still, they look like they're giving each other tummy-to-tummy massages.

My least favourite in terms of 'wtf?' and not just 'boringly mediocre' is one that's got some wierd native american animal dream thing going on. I keep thinking it was at the end of a season (I keep thinking 6 but then I think it was earlier) and didn't really fit, as it wasn't really tied into the story and it wasn't a finale thing or anything.

But I can't find it on TWoP and I KNOW I wasn't straight when I saw it so I'm not thinking it was a hallucination.

It's the end of Season 4. I think. When they have used all their scooby powers as one MegaScooby to beat Adam the Cyborg thingy. It's because they went against the laws of nature and slayerness. I think. Don't quote me.

Yay for not imagining entire episodes of Buffy!

OK. I can know tell you that the one I just finished watching was one of the shittiest. MrB walked out halfway through... Stupid Riley and his Mrs Riley and the dumb monster.

Cranky now...

Oh, I always liked Riley. Such broad shoulders and strong arms. Mmmmm.

I sat up last night watching The Body and Forever. Talk about a sob fest at Casa de Mel. It was great.

I'm scared of clowns because of Stephen King's IT, which I read (and watched) when I was probably a little too young.

I gotta say, my buffy crushes include Spike, Xander (before he chubbed up - I am shallow) and Angel. Even Giles, in that House kinda way. But not Riley. Never Riley. Too jocky.

Clowns both piss me off and scare the bejesus out of me. So it's a lose-lose situation...

LaRue - Spike has never been a crush. Nor Xander really. Angel - well der... Riley was sweet. and earnest. I do love that in a crush. Same goes for Giles.

Hey AB - I know that the conversation has moved on slightly but what about that Buffy & Spike sex scene when they ended up under a rug on the floor! All nice and neatly tucked under their arms. ROFL - I think it was meant to portray their wild and crazy passion for each other but all I could think of was "why are they under the rug" and "why would the bass ass vampire OWN a rug" and "surely it would be horribly dusty under that rug".

Also Hush was the one with the gentlemen - another excellent episode was the buffy mom dying one.

My least favourite is...Once more with feeling...I hate all the tuneless singing and Alison/Willow just can't sing at all.

The spuffy sex scene with the rug was indeed the low light. And the rugs seemed so ... heavy. I didn't get it. And yes, dusty. And the sound effects had been all plate crashing, but there was no broken crockery to be seen. Stupid sex scene. Almost as bad was the one in the Doublmeat Palace on her break. Weird.

OMWF I liked, although Willow obviously could sing as well as me, based on her whole 2 lines...
