Unexpected
MrB and I celebrated our 11th anniversary a couple of weeks back. I was going to do a post then, but kinda didn't get around to it... And I just googled '11 year sentence' in order to make a contrived comment such as that always thrown around at Silver Anniversary's "I would get less for murder etc etc..." but unfortunately, every single article seemed to be about child sex offences. Which is a) weird and b) really quite sad - a number of child rapes and other assualts, and the sentence is 11 years???! I realise I may end up sounding like Mountjoy, but seriously? 11 years?
One article was about Bill D'Arcy, ex-Queensland Labor MP, jailed for many sex offences.
Another was about Darcy Serle, the WA man who was paroled five years into his 11 year sentence, and then came over to NSW. We threw him back to WA...
Now 11 years is kind of a long time. And then again, it seems to have flown by...
Anyway, that wasn't what I was expecting. And it's taken the joy out of writing about my 11 year marriage. So I'll save it for another time...

Just as well I held over my rant about JonBent Ramsey for another day, hey?
Wow. 11 years ago I was in early high school and angry at the world. So much has changed... for AB, not necessarily for me.
Well, I was listening to 702 this morning, and Virginia Trioli was talking to a Dr Smallbone of Griffith University about 'what makes a pedophile...'
What with that, and the JonBenet thing... freaky.
And I was going to be making some tongue-in-cheek comment. It all got a little serious.
11 yrs! shit. thats a lifetime.
to someone who is 11...
I can't imagine how old you feel being married for 11 years, because it just occured to me that I have been 'legal' for 11 years. And five days.
And that makes me feel absolutely ancient.
'legal' haha......i can see the porno title now. 27 and legal for 11 years...
Yeah it's a long time.
But I was only 21 and still at uni when we got married. So we've kinda grown up together...
I'm going to do a post about all the stuff we've managed to cram into those 11 years, it just was a bit of a downer when I googled '11 years'.
i thought legal was 18 these days? although i guess what your definition of legal is. driving? sex? voting? drinking so much at the pub for the first time you end up barfing in the beer trough?
Mex, legal is legal for sex - you can't get chucked in jail for underage drinking and yet just try and shag someone who is a few weeks shy of 16 without being considered a "dirty old perv"...
Okay, in my drunken stupor I lost your email BUT Jasper Fforde's appearances can be found at the following links Shearer's Bookstore or Gleebooks Bookstore.
Check it out, links in a post! I finally figured some of this HMTL stuff out.
Congratulations on the 11 years, definitely something to be proud of in this weird day and age.
I just channelled my grandmother for the above sentence, good lord.
Congrats actonb on 11 years. Here's to many many more of them.
