Naivete
Last night, I drove through a dodgy industrial estate in Bankstown, in order to get onto Canterbury Rd for a rendezvous with an ambulance.
As I emerged onto Canterbury Rd, I noticed a girl standing on the corner. I was perturbed. Why was that poor girl standing there, all alone? Was she waiting for someone? And she must have been quite chilly... I don't think those knee-high socks would have been much protection against the night chills, what with the very short skirt she was wearing... And an industrial estate is hardly the safest place to hang ou....
Oh.
Der.
Poor thing.
Reminded me of a conversation I had with MrB a number of years ago. We were driving through Poland, on the main highway between Gdansk and Warsaw. Most of the distance was still quite heavily wooded, but every so often there were clearings by the side of the road. MrB noticed that every so often, seated in these clearings were young women.
"What are they doing I wonder?"
"Waiting for a bus" I answer, voice dripping with sarcasm...
"Hmmm, not too safe these Polish bus stops, are they? They could get picked up by any....
Oh. I get it. Der" says MrB.
"Pahahahaha etc" I cackle.
Karma - it's gonna get you.

Are you suggesting one gets more naive wth age?
And ... an encouter with an ambulance?
caterbury road quite often has asian hookers waiting for buses
She wasn't Asian.
And I was at the dodgy end of a very long and dodgy road.
And I swear - the first thing I noticed was the socks. . I'm having an issue with The Kids Today wearing spasticated long socks with everything.
The ambulance - I was meeting up with a friend who's an ambo driver. We met at the Maccas at Revesby for a natter. It made sense. To me. Sorry about the rest of you...
One more day to go...
You didn't happen to ask how much, did you?
